Frequently asked questions
What color line do we use?
We use a variety of JOICO Professional color including LumiShine, K-pak and QT Quick toners. LumiShine transforms hair from the inside out with breakthrough ArgiPlex Technology, delivering astonishing shine, color longevity, and overall healthier-looking hair—guaranteed!
How often should I color my hair?
Depending on the service you receive, maintenance varies. Here are a few color services with their maintenance frequencies.
Color retouch - Every 4 - 6 weeks depending on hair growth rate.
All over Gloss or Toner - Every 4 weeks
Foil Highlight Blonding - Every 8 weeks
Balayage Blonding - Every 12 - 18 weeks, as needed.
What is a Gloss or Toner?
Blondes to have more fun! But they also can be a bit high maintenance, the hair that is. Toning is a service in which an artist chooses a color of “gloss” and applies it root to end of blonde hair. Gloss is a light color, usually a demi or semi-permanent hair color that neutralizes any unwanted tones or colors in blonde hair. Do you notice your blond yellowing over time? The lighter the blonde the faster it will lose the color molecules during at home shampoos. Purple shampoo can help when used occasionally, but overuse of purple shampoo can leave hair dry. Gloss toner like our Lumishine color line replaces the depleted nutrients to the hair while it corrects unwanted tones adding shine and softness to dry rough blond hair.
What is Balayage Blonding?
- a technique for highlighting hair in which the lightening product is painted on the hair in such a way as to create a graduated, natural-looking effect.
This technique does tend to take longer at the salon but because of the natural looking placement grows out with grace. Salon appointments don’t have to be a frequent as with foiling highlight techniques.
Is hair color damaging to your hair?
JOICO Lumishine color delivers up to 2X the shine, reduces breakage and 100% replenishes and restrengthens hair. With the nourishing ArgiPlex technology, that delivers Arginine, a naturally occurring amino acid crucial to hair’s strength, back into the hair during the color process. Sealing in moisture, softness, and shine for up to 30 shampoos.
We also pair each color service with a bond building treatment!
What is Defy Damage? Joico Defy Damage Treatment boosts bond protection and is added to all of TBM deposit color services. This damage- defying breakthrough helps protect and strengthen hair bonds for a healthy-hair transformation you can instantly see and feel but also protects from UV exposure, and environmental pollution and daily heat styling that can lead to dry, dull, lackluster hair. Defy damage also has a fantastic at home care line of products to maintain you salon look at home!
What Is Olaplex? Olaplex is a three-step process that aims to repair and prevent hair damage. It works on a molecular level by restoring the hair’s broken bonds which can result from harsh chemical treatments like bleaching and coloring. At TBM we use Olaplex in every blonding service as insurance for the health of your hair. Olaplex also has a fantastic at home care line available for purchase that is beneficial for all hair types and safe for extensions!
But we’re not done yet!
At the shampoo bowl we take your color service a step further with Malibu DE Ox, a miracle product that stops the process of lightening and our Joico KPAK Cuticle Sealer that sooths your hairs cuticle creating a smooth, healthy and beautiful finish.
How does a color correction work?
Color corrections are a series of color services used for a variety of reasons but usually because a guest is unhappy with their current color and want a BIG transformation. Correction usually starts with color removal, a gentle product that shrinks and removes artificial color molecules. Depending on the desired goal, a combination or color, lightening and treatments are performed.
Some corrections can be cone in one session and some require multiple sessions to get a client to their goal while retaining the health of the hair. Do you think a correction is what you need? Click the button below to ASK AN ARTIST and get professional recommendations for your service needs.
